A-PHPBA Foundation


A-PHPBA Foundation was established in 2013 aiming to support research, educational and training activities in order to advance the treatment of hepato-pancreato-biliary diseases and enhance the quality of hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery and patient care. As A-PHPBA has been established as a charitable organization in Hong Kong, the organization may accept and collect donations (whether or real or personal estate) for the purposes of carrying out or achieving any objects in accordance with the Memorandum of the Association. It may on a non-profit making basis, present, promote, organize, provide, manage, and sponsor the following:

  • Educational, research and training activities related to HPB Surgery
  • Travelling scholarship program
  • Fellowship exchange program
  • Humanitarian projects by international teams

A-PHPBA Foundation is governing by its Council. With a goal of creating a corpus in the foundation, ten percent of the profit from biennial congresses would be moved to the Foundation to support the above activities. Dr Palepu Jagannath has been appointed Director of the Foundation in 2015.

A-PHPBA has been established as a charitable organization in Hong Kong; the exemption from all taxes under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance. Donations are tax deductible as charitable contributions. A-PHPBA accepts gifts of cash, appreciated securities and gifts by bequest.
